Extractions

Tooth extractions are sometimes necessary to protect your overall oral health. At our practice, we offer professional extraction services for teeth that are damaged, decayed, impacted, or causing crowding. Whether it’s a simple or surgical extraction, our experienced team uses gentle, precise techniques to ensure a safe and comfortable experience. We also provide aftercare guidance to support a smooth recovery.

Post op care for extraction: After your tooth extraction or surgical procedure, keep firm pressure on the site with moistened gauze for 2-3 hours, changing it every 45 minutes; a moist tea bag may help if bleeding continues. Pink saliva the first day is normal, but dark red blood means you should apply firm pressure. Avoid spitting, straws, smoking, and rinsing for the first 24 hours. Take medications as directed with a small amount of food, use ice on the area (20 minutes on, 20 off) for the first day, avoid strenuous activity for 2-3 days, and stick to soft, cool foods and plenty of liquids for 3-5 days. Expect minor blood on your pillow the next morning. After 24 hours, begin gentle warm saltwater rinses 3-4 times daily for 5-7 days, continue soft foods, and resume brushing other teeth. After 3 days, advance your diet as tolerated; mild soreness, swelling, or bruising may last 3-5 days. Call our office if you experience medication issues, inadequate pain control, signs of a dry socket (severe pain around day 3), fever over 100°F, swelling that worsens after day two, or any difficulty swallowing, coughing, or breathing, seek emergency care if needed.
